The
less-lethal capabilities of law enforcement have entered a new era. Close
quarter deployment of less-lethal munitions is now a viable and effective
option for SWAT units, air marshals or narcotics raid teams. Fox Labs, in
conjunction with Pine Tree Law Enforcement Products of Canada, has developed and is now
marketing the "Defender" less-lethal delivery system. Made of aircraft
aluminum with hardened steel components, the Defender is light, tough, fast and
effective. Models are also available in anodized or mill-spec Teflon finishes.

The Defender 1 is a five shot, hand held revolver, which
delivers 20-gauge, tail stabilized safety-soc rounds at velocities of 250 feet per
second. These rounds have been extensively tested and found to be effective at
distances between 10 and 40 feet. The relatively compact size of the Defender 1
allows it to be carried in a thigh holster, on a tactical vest or concealed in a shoulder
rig.

The Defender 2 is a shoulder fired, 20
gauge less-lethal delivery system, which also operates on the time tested revolver
action. The 18 3/8 inch barrel serves to improve the already impressive accuracy and
effective range of the hand held model, while being compact enough for deployment in
tactical situation. The Defender 2 will be available with a 10 round cylinder, which
also makes this model an excellent option for civil disturbance deployments. |

round, which produces a 135-decibel blast accompanied by a brilliant flash.
